mare with laminitis after weaning foal

Has anyone had a similar problem? The shetland mare was separated from her foal who was 11 months old last sunday and by wednesday was lame and is now very lame and it looks like laminitis in one of her front feet. She has no problem with her udder and does not appear stressed. She is in a new home with me so there is no contact with her foal. She has plenty of company with my other 8 ponies and walked away from her foal without a backward glance.
 
I'd put her on a starvation paddock to dry her up as one minute she'll be using lots of resources into feeding foal the next minute she's not so will be a major shock to her body!
 
The mare is now fully recovered. She was put in the stable for two days and given Bute and was digging for England to get out. She is totally sound and bombing round her small paddock! I think it may well have been a combination of new home and weaning of her foal. We are off to a show on Sunday as she is so well in herself.
