Mareish behaviour - how does this manifest itself?

I've owned my mare for over 4 years now, and she has always been very straightforward, you would hardly know she is in season, and you can pretty much take her anywhere and do anything with her she is so laid back,

She has recently been diagnosed with an ovary problem, and I have been told once this is resolved she may be a bit more mareish. Not sure if this is just to be expected when she is in season, or generally.

So - as I have never experienced this (had geldings previously) I wondered if you could all describe what "mareish behaviour" means to you?! (Not sure I want to hear this!!) :)

My girl's cycles tend to manifest themselves in two ways: she can seem a bit depressed or she is that little bit more twitchy both on the ground and under saddle. Thinking about how I am at that time of the month I totally sympathize! It doesn't last too long and I tend to spend a bit more time grooming and generally fussing over her. She's in her 20's now though so she is not cycling as regularly as she was and isn't quite as 'mareish'
