Mares all the way

I think the only way I would own a gelding would be to keep a homebred...

Only ever geldingd - this stemmed from us having an old blue cross horse once who just seemed to hate mares, he would attack them. We then got a welsh cob gelding who was very riggy and it would not have been appropriate to have a mare as it would have caused too many problems.

We have stuck with geldings ever since. I got yet another riggy 14.2hh so again with the herd we had at the time a mare would have been a problem.

I rode mares at college but found the geldings less argumentative although never had a problem with the mares as such. I am a very laid back person so maybe that's why i find geldings suit me more.

Mares all the way, I think generally they just try harder for you and have a more engaging personality. Not always, but generally.

We're looking to buy at the moment and I would love a mare, but I'm not limiting the search to mares only. There don't seem to be many mares for sale at all though.

Mares for me. I've always found they are more difficult to get along with, but once you build that relationship, it will be stronger than anything you could have with a gelding. My chestnut mare is a walking stereotype but I adore her just the way she is.

I haven't voted as a suitable horse for me could be either a mare or gelding. I've got a filly and 2 geldings. The filly is a people person she so wants to please you, one of the gelding's is a mummys boy and the other gelding is a little reserved but a bit more spirited than the other two.
