Last week my mare was a nightmare on a hack and today she seems to have come into season. Is that the right sort of timing. Also when will she be due anouther season. Sorry first mare I have had the joy of owning!

welcome to the world of mares ;) oh the joy :D :D :D

its hard to say atm when her next one will be as they all seem to be to pot and most mares dont season this early. The weird weather pattersn we have been having seems to be fooling them.... my mare was in season yesterday as well.

Normally they would season over three weeks from about march / april through to october time ..... of course just like humans theres lots variations

some its hard to spot :) , others there is nooooooooooo doubt at all

These are usually just transitional heat cycles at this time of year. The unseasonal weather fluctuations over the past year or two have altered some mares heat patterns. Most of my non-pregnant mares have started cycling again but I wouldn't breed on these heats. Mares normally cycle every 19 - 25 days.

My mare was in season about two weeks ago. It is most unusual for this time of year, but it has been very mild recently is hardly surprising. A couple of other mares at our yard have been in season too.
