I want to preface by saying I will also ask my vet about this when I go to work tomorrow. However I figured I would ask advice from all of you first.
I have a 12 yo maiden mare.
She has recently developed hard teats. They are pretty hard to the touch. They are waxy but they have always been prone to getting waxy.
They don't feel hot and she lets me touch them.

As far as I know she is not bred. I'm 98% percent sure. We do have a stud on the property but he has only been here 1 month. Plus she hasn't gone into heat since January. Which is weird I know.
There is a stud next door but he is s miniature and behind a fence. I honestly don't think there is any way they could have gotten together.
She has gained a lot of weight recently but I have been attributing it to the high grass here and her diet.
If there is any way possible for her to have been bred it would have happened either in January or last month. But like I said, she cycles weird and hasn't paid much attention to the stud on our property. Plus she has been bred in previous years and has never taken.

So I really doubt she is pregnant. Which worries me because I don't know why her udder would get so hard. I'm hoping it's not an infection of some sort

Looks like she might be being bitten there by flies, put some cream/repellent on her and see how she goes. That doesn't look like the udder of a pregnant mare.
