Mark/lesion on side of horse

Hi does anyone know what this might be on my horse, she arrived last week.
She is really bothered by the flies could it be a fly bite that she’s itched ?

Has it started as something small and been rubbed by the girth - just trying to work out where the girth sits.

I don’t think it was but I can’t say for certain, it would be around 2 weeks ago now

It’s right where the girth would sit but she doesn’t seem bothered by it

I did initially think sarcoid, though it looks fairly flat? Difficult to tell from the pics. Is it a bite/ scrape from the field? Does it ooze like a graze?

Are you using a short girth or a long girth? It looks like a nasty girth rub, right where the buckle on a short girth would sit, but it also looks as if it could be a sarcoid.

I would suggest that you stop using a girth, or at the very least put a sheepskin (not synthetic, real) cover over that area, until it heals. And if it doesn't heal in a week or so, ask a vet.

I’m worried that it is a Sarcoid but is flat not raised at all. Vet is out for jags next week so will ask then if not away

Many sarcoids are flat.

It looks just like a girth rub to me too. Have you ridden her since she arrived?
