Just been flicking through a mag and stumbled on this in the "Wots New" section. Has anyone tried one and how thick are they? Do they come in different sizes/colours?
The one I bought didn't work for me despite being the "best" on the market and "FEI approved". I'm not saying don't use one, just be careful which you choose. My friend has a Torsion that she swears by and has certainly done the trick for her veteran show pony, but you do need to use the right pad..she uses a sheepskin lined thick felt pad with hers. My saddler also recommends Barefoot, and you can now get really nice pads with gel inserts for them, so I may be tempted back yet. My instructor also schools my pony in a Torsion with no ill effects, so I think it was down to the brand I chose, which I am not permitted to mention in a defamatory vein. However, I did use a Rambo neoprene pad today on our hack out with pretty good results much better than prolite, and have a thinline contour on order so I will see what happens with that when it arrives. Just these Accupressure pads sound just the ticket, and wanted to know if anyone had any experience of them...do they do what they say???? So much on the market is just BS, or so it seems...my pockets do have a finite depth.
Bought one, used it in lesson on Saturday with local saddler looking on. In fact whole yard as I was braving some jumps. Comments were that pony looked really relaxed through her back, engaging well and looked the biz. When we stripped off the saddle and felt for any soft swellings, which were visible to the eye, regardless of what was under the saddle..there was nothing there. Saddler had a really good feel around as well. Looked at my saddle, and yep I do have the wrong type of saddle for her and there is a very slight rock, but the accupressure pad has corrected that issue...pretty unbelievable. She went all day yesterday in it with no indication of any discomfort. All in all highly recommended!!!!! At least it has worked for me so off to get another one...a wear and a spare.
