I'm pretty sure I know the answer to this already but thought I'd ask anyway. I've been saving up to buy H a Thermatex rug, but have just discovered he's going to need a new saddle so that will obviously take priority.

In the meantime I've been offered a nearly new Mark Todd Coolex rug for £30. Does anyone know how they compare to Thermatex? Should I be patient and keep saving for the Thermatex or will the Coolex be just as good?

I do think the Thermatex are better, I absolutely adore mine. But £30 for a Coolex is a bargain!!! I'd buy that and then continue saving for a Thermatex. Always handy to have a spare as well, never know when you'll need it.

When you get your thermatex you will spend ages just looking at it and will be loathe to let it near a horse so i would also buy the other rug as it will come in handy lol

I nearly cry when i remember the day my husband announced proudly that he had turned out the pony in to the muddy field unassisted (he is not horsey) and remember asking how he managed to change the pony out of his thermatex in to a turnout rug knowing deep down what the reply would be....

Sorry WelshD, couldn't help giggling at this!

I've got both and would say there's no difference in how well they work, and when they're covered in poo, shavings and hair they look exactly the same too.

This. I have both and think the Thermatex is far better but I'd definitely buy another Coolex at £30!

I'd have the coolex at £30 :D

I've not got my own Thermatex rug, but a horse that was staying with me did and it was nice but just a rug at the end of the day. I've got Thermatex hoods and again, ok, wouldn't do a song and dance about them.

The coolex look Ok, material feels fine from the one I was having a feel of in the tack shop, £30 is a bargain for what it is I think.
