I'm still on my hunt for a leather long boot. I love the Bromonts, but they really were so high when I tried them on - as in half way up my knee cap and I am not a short person!

I do love Ariats but I can't take the risk that they don't drop much. I know from others that they can drop substantially or by a minimal amount. Do the Mark Todd boots come up long as well? How good are they for quality in comparison to the Bromonts and do they come in brown leather?

Thanks :)

the MT boots are nice, but not quite as good quality leather as the Ariat ones imho. not quite as long ime but i've never seen them in brown leather.

did u try using heel risers in the bromonts?? i used them in mine until they dropped enough and then took them out xx

I have Bromonts. I tried Mark Todd ones but didn't seem as nice. My Bromonts hardly dropped thou :( so I got some heel lifts in them so I can ride jumping length.

I've just had this dilemma. Ideally I really wanted the Mark Todd boots (for some reason I'm just not keen on the bromonts ) but the fit on them just wasn't right for me at all, far too wide on the calf, very annoying as I liked the boot. Tried the bromonts and like you they were too high (and I still didn't really like them). So I went shopping around and eventually have bought some mountain horse young high rider ones for about £140. Really pleased with them so far, a nice neat boot, they fit perfectly around the calf and although started a tiny bit high have already dropped with one ride.

I tried then with the heel raiser in and it really didn't make that much of a difference.

If money was not an object I wouldn't debate it at all, but unfortunately I'm not in the position of being able to take a punt like that.

I absolutely love the Bromonts, they are the right shade of brown and I love the look and I know Ariats are comfortable anyway. I was just massively surprised and concerned by the height of the boot and there are such differing opinions as to how much they drop by that I can't take the risk.

When I tried them on, I couldn't even bend my leg as they were so high - and I am a fairly long in the leg 5'6!

Are there any other recommendations for brown long boots? I've been referred to the brogini brand but I don't like the look of them.

Search goes on :(
