Mark Todd Rugs

i have never found any of my MT rugs to leak and i'm pretty sure they're all 600D. The denier rating has nothing to do with waterproofness - it's how tough they are to rip.

Are these the ones with the double clip at the front?

If so, I insist on double buckle straps at the front now, as both my horses, chunky ID/X and skinny aged TB, have "killed" the clips which do up at the front.

The TB is done up at the moment in a similar heavyweight which luckily doesn't slip, with just one clip in front and baler twine in a reef knot, but the MT used to slip badly on my chunky ID/X every time he rolled, so I would never countenance using one for him in the future.

He currently lives in a generic medium weight with double straps in front and a cardigan underneath if it gets really cold.

My mare has the 350g one and I love love love it! The neck comes up so high right to the ears, so much so that sometimes when she lifts her head up she sometimes has an ear missing :P Shes really sensitive to the cold and keeps her really toastie!
Ditto the 600d comment. That just refers to toughness. I.e. if you have a rogue horse in the field that likes to eat rugs, may be better to get a 1000+ dernier.
The 350g so far has not leaked at all.
Am thinking of getting the next heavy weight up that you refer to for my youngster when he is clipped next year as he does tend to feel the cold. He hasnt been clipped this year and in the coldest -10 degrees he has been in a medium combo and cooler. hmmm.

mmm, dont have that particular one but i have the 350g and the lightweight t/o for both my horses and they have been worn in the heaviest rain, neither have ever leaked. I think they are lovely rugs- probably the only make i would buy now for my TB

I now only ever buy Mark Todd rugs (stable, T/O, Under, Exercise) and I've never had a T/O that leaked. I also have a lightweight Premier Equine and it doesn't really fit my RID mare so it ripped at the front. Premier and Mark Todd are different fits IMO

Most of my rugs are Mark Todds as they fit my 17.1hh gelding without looking like mini skirts!

I love them, however I did just buy the full neck heavyweight combo and athough the rug is gorgeous the neck cover on it is so tight! I can ony do the buckle up on the first one, can't use the velcro on it as it doesn't reach. Most of the MT rugs are lovely and generous but I am very disappointed in this one. :(

BTW Sorry this is the stable rug version of the ultimate h/w combo I bought that has the tight neck cover, not the T/O. Sorry to mislead :)

I have lightweight and med weight MT rugs. They fit great but I have had to replace all the front and legstrap clips gradually as they fell apart.
