market harborough

I think you are thinking of a harbridge, a market harborough does not have any elastic, its made of leather, runs from the girth through the bit and clips onto the rein

my friends got one on her horse, its like a martingale with 2 dangaly bits that loop through the bit and back and theres 3-4 different catches on the reins depending how intense you want it, i cant think of a propper word for the thingys on the reins!! her horse goes lovely in it, he used to be naughty throwing his head everywhere but he's good as gold now!!

This is the best picture I've got, any good?

Someone at our yard uses one on his Arab, he said he wouldnt be without it, she has very high head carridge and has a tendancy to go above the bit a lot. Nice humane gadget in my opinion, also good for a little added contol.

ok so its a gadjet that mainly only works wen its on, and the horse soon learns wen it hasnt got it on and returns to flinging head?or if used consistantly the horse gets out of its habit of hollowing, head flinging or watever?

Maybe he is saying that he's had enough? Working in an outline care be very tiring for a horse. Do you routinely allow him a longer rein at intervals during training sessions and then finish wil a few minutes on a long rein at walk? It is amazing how tight horses can get through their necks and backs, often they are generous enough to keep going but many say " had enough2, and some throw a real strop!

i work him long and low first, then slowly bring him up for short period of working in an outline - wen he wants a stretch he lets me know, but he flings his head wen he thinks sumthing is hard , not wen wants 2 sretch- also on hacks he often goes like a giraffe once hes gotten excited and is v dificult to get him to lower. was given a market harborough to try from my v good instructer, just wanted some opinions on them first
