What does everyone mark their rugs with? As mine are still clean from the laundry I thought I'd better put my postcode or something - is permanent marker ok or are there any special paint products that work better?

It would take a brave or stupid person to try and remove a rug from my horse in the field but I guess they are just as vulnerable when they are hanging up outside the stable.

I don't think rugs are often stolen as the second hand values are poor.

We mark all ours with a marker pen, but more to tell which is which when they are all the same colour!!

I paint all mine with the post code, stable and turnout rugs, they get stolen off horses backs all the time or from tack rooms through break ins. If they are marked more chance they wont take them as not as easy to sell on in their circles. You can sell nearly almost anything at auctions and ebay these days people dont mind if things are marked if they are good ,at this time of year even used second hand ones fetch a good price, so i would mark them if i was you. My mate has had rugs stolen off her horses nearly every year until she painted hers!

sorry, dont know how to just do a link thing for the photo and its come up as photo here on the message
