Martingale stops....

I got halfway up the track today and suddenly realised I'd been a very naughty girl...Ellie hasnt had her martingale on for absolutely ages, so I removed the stops from her reins. I put the martingale on today as she was quite fresh and we were going for a canter, but forgot to put the martingale stops on!

I must confess I didnt turn back, instead we just took it very easy, but it made me wonder whether everyone does, in fact, use martingale stops? I've heard some awful stories of martingale rings getting stick over pelham rings, but I thought we'd be reasonably safe today as she only wears a snaffle! Will put back on for next time though

I got an absolute rollocking at Pony Club for forgetting my martingale stops at camp. Needless to say I have never, ever forgotten them since!!

I have been caught out twice this year with Fly overbending and getting his martingale stuck! Always changing bridles, excuses, excuses!! RESULT, backing up at horrendous speed with complete disregard as to what is behind us!! Don't forget them again!! xx

I did this last week, exactly the same reason as you, I was in the school and I carried on, but did less than I planned - stops now firmly back on!
