Just returned after 3 wonderful days crewing at the Golden Horseshoe on Exmoor. Brilliant event & some wonderful riding country.

Mary King rode 40km (25 miles) of the GHS course on Monday with Abby Chisholm. She was on a lovely arab gelding, Mellow Jazz, & completed in the course in gold time with no penalties (despite doing a cavalry charge up the last hill!).

The rider I was crewing rode in the group of 10 that ended up going around together, including MK, so I got to see her round a lot of the wonderful course.

This ride is one of those you just have to try. There's always a short (25km) pleasure ride on the sunday before the main event, which is open to anyone.

Sadly Exmoor is way too far away from us (north Northumberland) but what a fab coup for the discipline to have Mary doing GHS! The eventers took a real interest in the Endurance at Kentucky and were impressed at the levels of fitness, horse care and riding they saw. Hopefully this will help our sport to come out from under it's bushel and let it's light shine!!
