Hi all, looking for a mash for my ulcery gelding. Need to feed a mash in winter as it ensures he gets water and that he can chew his food properly. Have been told rowan barbary solution mash and fast fibre, but not sure on either so looking for more options, thank you all.

Allen and Page have a mash, I think it is called Ulcer Soothe. If you check the website you'll find all the details

Allen & Page Soothe and Gain. I’m very impressed with it and my poor doer is now on a more normal amount of feed than she was when on Veterab Vitality.

**EDIT the mash has over a 10% starch and sugar level so wouldn't be suitable unfortunatly** in small amounts would it be suitable for a good doer

I think it’s got a higher DE than the good doer feeds. My Cushings pony has Fast Fibre and Acid Ease supplement, which has been brilliant for her. I tried many gastric supplements for her but this is the only one that’s worked long term. I suspect hind gut ulcers with her (ginger, welsh mare!) but with this supplement I can feed anything I choose and it doesn’t upset her. The Allen & Page lady said Soothe and Gain works by moving slowly through the gut so it stays fuller for longer, whereas Acid Ease coats the stomach so food doesn’t upset it. Might be worth trying that on your good doer.

How much do you have to feed, like to keep the feeds as small as possible
Your best bet is to speak to them, they’re really helpful and you can chat online. They will recommend what the best amount to feed is, I used to give my mare half a cup in each feed. They will even send you a measuring cup! But no, you don’t have to feed a lot.

Another vote for pink mash can’t rate it highly enough.
A little goes a long way too, mine only gets a balancer cup in each feed, and it’s enough to make a huge difference.

Indeed this but somehow got confused, despite that being its name, when you asked for a mash and thought of the A&P

Fat cob gets a tiny single handful of pink mash as a carrier for his minerals. The Perfect One gets 250gm, half the RDA and the neurotic TB, who is treated like an ulcer horse, gets 500gms.

Pink mash or topspec high fibre mash. Both companies will send you a sample if you email them. I looked into it for mine, he loves the high fibre mash but not the pink.

Another for Pink Mash. Feed all mine on it and they all love it and look amazing on it. Perfect for ulcer prone horses.
