Im looking to get someone out to give my horses a nice massage, and also possibly another pony who is on box rest, to cheer her up.

Does anyone know the best way of finding someone to do this, and how many different 'types' of massage are available?

Im in the north east if it helps!

There are people who have qualification in equine sports massage...we have one near us and she charges £30.

But wouldn't have a clue how to find one near you, but there must be a register some where?!

I do my own horse. I have 2 books I refer to - the best one is Amanda Sutton's injury free horse - which gives step by step pictures of what to do. The other one is by Mary Bromley. A full massage as described by Amanda takes about an hour and a half so not something I have time to do often but my horse loves it and it is a real bonding experience! Jenny especially loves it at the moment as she's so itchy under her rugs. I wish I did have time to do it more often though.
Editted to say I do use a physio locally that does do some massage as part of his work up/treatment and can PM you details if you want but don't know anyone that just does massage.
