I realise there's been a fair amount of bad press/experiences regarding masta rugs but just wondered if it was a specific range they did or all of them, I have found a good offer on a lightweight and a medium weight check tech, my friend has a heavy check tech and has always been pleased with it, anyone else have experiences of this range rather than the zing range which I know is of poor quality. I've just had 2 masta stable rugs arrive which seem of good quality and fit.

Wouldnt buy another turnout from Masta, but I do have a couple of stable rugs I really quite like.

Ive not had any concerns with the stable rugs and Id possibly buy more, but Ive got two turnout rugs, and theyre horrible IMO!

I have bee using various Masta rugs, inc the check tech range for something like 5/6 years. All mine have lasted and I have had no problems at all.I do have them cleaned and re-proofed at the end of winter, which may help prolong their lives. They have survived thug like horse who normally wrecks rugs on the wire. I also use Premier Equine and Shires, and found all 3 to be very reliable, no leaks and generally wear well.

Stable rugs seem fine but the Check Tech range of turnouts had problems with the seams coming undone and easily tearing. I know of quite a few that had to go back to the Manufacturers due to faults.

False economy, they are probably on offer for a good reason! I have only ever had one masta rug and it fell apart really quickly- never again!

I wouldn't buy a Masta again either; I have a check tech which I bought because it was on offer, and I hate it. All the inner seams have come apart, one of the leg straps broke, and I hate the way you have to put the surcingles through that hole in the rug to do them up, really irritates me!

I also have Masta stable rug which is rubbish.

I'm not a fan of Masta t/o rugs as they always slip round to one side. I never buy any cotton lined rugs any more as they grip like velcro and make righting a slipped rug virtually impossible.

I`ve got 3 masta turn outs for each horse and the check tech is fine for my lot and they are rug trashers, the Masta zing has come off worst :)

Nothing is as good as my premier equine turn outs, they take the biggest of beatings and come out the winner everytime

I always bought masta up until a few years ago. I found the Check-tech medium turnouts sodding heavy, and when trying to unrug wiggly 16hh+ 3 year old heavy rugs not helpful. Also noted he trashed the insides in about a month! Bought him a 6'9 full neck heavy weight Mark Todd which when wet is still lighter than the old mans 5'9 Masta! Now have lovely range of Amigo's/ Mark Todd/ Premier Equine rugs and love them to bits. Also have had Masta stable rugs whilst they've lasted really well the new styles are really short, barely cover belly, so am searching for new full neck medium stable rug if anyone nos anywhere thats selling them??

xx

I've had a few check techs over the years, they fit my boy perfectly and I have never had a problem with them. However, the nice lady who mends rugs locally says they are renowned for the lining falling apart and she has a lot of them in to mend.

thank you all so much it seems to be a wide variance but overall i think i'll stay away from the turnouts then!!! i have to say i do like the stable rugs though, have had a regal for years and still brilliant, and the 2 new ones that have arrived seem to fit my boy well too, although i think he'll have grown out of them by the end of this winter!!! sodding youngsters!!!
