Okay so, I have been lurking and not posting for a while because I have been in redundancy termoil and didnt want to whinge on too much!!
Many will remember that I bought Pat (Pauldarys Master Patrick) a Master Imp 5yo back in July who looked like this....
Well long story short, he now looks like this...
So a few weeks ago we went out with the South Downs Bloodhounds, again to cut a long story short - I battled massively with confidence issues and this time last year I was sweating and having palpatations over getting on (previous horse) in an enclosed space at home on the lead rein, so this was my ultimate goal conquered.
Now to yesterday...
We trundled off to Priory with our green ribbon and a bunch of butterflies! (only our second dressage show) to do P18 and N28. Now after years of eventing and schooling horses I really feel I have my mojo back and I am loving training this little accepting horse and long may it last. We are schooling nov/elementary (ish) at home so reckoned we would give it a bash. Warmed up a charm, bit sharp but that may be due to me shaving the poor ****** this week! Went in to the indoor (his first time in an indoor school) for the test... he was exhuberant but containable. We hit most things spot on with a few clips of the wall by my stirrup which put him off and a big spook at C due to the white boards!!
Halted with little to no 'immobility', saluted and flung my arms around my pony, sobbing into his neck.. I have never been so proud!
I thought we might get a low 60 something as I know there is room for improvement but as I (one eye open) checked the scores we were top 5 at 70.5%!!!!!!!!! UNBELIEVABLE... queue more tears a 5th rosette and qualification to the Winter Champs!
Up came N28, nothing much to write home about, broke short of the counter canter twice and didnt get enough grunt from my med trot but a sweet test for a decent 65.3% (no placing due to marks being deducted for my neck strap - who knew eh?!)
So I am utterly, utterly thrilled with the way we are progressing. Out on Saturday for more of the same so fingers crossed for then!
Thanks for reading, I have some fizzy cola laces and a hot chocolate brewing for those who didnt abandon me at the sobbing girly mess!!
