So here's my dilema, I really need a new pair of stirrup leathers, do I get a pair that are the same brand/make as my saddle etc or do I buy a cheaper pair that are a different make? (both seem good quality).
Do you all have matching tack (as far as you can) and stick to dressing ponio in the same colours?

Gosh no...

On one horsy we have a light brown Bridle...black saddle..and darker brown stirrup leathers

and have odd stirrup leathers on one ponio lol

Have matching tack for events and what not though

Ive got a black bridle (comp one) Everyday one is brown though and my saddle is sorta browney reddy colour with matching make and colour leathers.
If the colour of the leathers match the saddle colour then it doesnt really matter what the make is.

Maes bridle is brown but saddle is black, do have a black bridle for her for shows. My stirrup leathers are black, but to be honest, the colour of tack doesnt make a horse go more better

by matching do you mean all the same colour? then yes, its all matching although its all varying makes and quality... I have cheapo leathers on my good saddle and good leathers on my not so good saddle...

None of my stuff matches, and my tack is non-branded.
Currently horse is in a havana bridle, with black flash strap, and a black saddle with brown stirrup leathers.

, I know it's just that I need to have one set for everyday and shows (when we are ready to compete) and wanted people opinions on having the same brand especially if it's a brand where you are impressed with the quality of their products in comparison to a brand you have no experience with...
In other words, I guess what I'm asking is if you have the money is it worth spending out on the best quality tack you can afford?

Dont get yourself into huge debt over a brand tag, but get the best you can.

I have an albion dressage saddle, girth and bridle but that isn't because it's all the same make, it's just because the saddle fitted the horse the best, the girth is a nice one that is soft and supple and doesn't pinch and the bridle suited my horse! I've not gone as far as matching stirrup leathers though!!!
But i'd definitely say get the best you can afford - after all, you're not looking to replace it every year!

as long as its the nearly the same colour i dont care what brand it is, cheap and cheerful - i buy english take but not the very expensive stuff, just nice middle of the range gear.

i insist on it as far as colours go yes, but a friend held my horse two sundays ago and let the reins drop whilst i went for a wee and hey presto snapped reins. so now ive brown ones on with black bridle and saddle but new ones on their way.

Ooh get some of those with a non stretch core. I really want some - fed up of working out which leather has to go on a higher hole

One of mine already has a pair, I'm looking at buying the other one some, they are great you just have to make sure you buy the right length

Ha ha.

Have a black bridle, with brown reins and a brown nose net. Dark brown leather saddle with black synthetic leathers and black synthetic girth...burgundy saddle pad, green whip and my fave jods are purple.

When we go to shows we look much smarter though
