My rubber matting keeps moving ever so slightly, but enough for wee sodden pellets to get stuck and stinky!! I’m having the whole lot out and jet washing at the weekend and wondered if anyone screws the old style heavy mats down as I only need to remove and clean a couple of times a year? Or is this a bad idea?!! Thank you :)

Ive got the heavy duty mats and never remove them and have never had a problem with smells etc. We fit them ourselves so they arent perfect as theyve been in a few different stables over the years but we made sure they are a tight fit so there isnt any gaps. I did have one moving a bit as the stable wasnt square so we wedged it in with a cut ff piece and its been fine since. Im presuming screwing them to the floor wouldnt be the easiest tbh

yes I did think about putting a small slither in between to remove the gap but didn’t know if that would work

Mine were cut exactly for one stable then I had to move stables where the fit wasn’t exact I then just used the off cuts which I’d kept to wedge round the edges against the walls to stop them moving. Been down for around 7 or 8 years and never been moved. They are the heavy type of rubber mat.

I’ve got some lighter weight ones second hand that interlock but they flatten, stretch and distort over time so have quite bit gaps. I use wood pellets and just let them fill in the gaps. I usually lift, clean and refit those once a year.
