Matting for field gateways

Has anyone used the rubber matting with holes for in muddy areas such as gate ways? Was thinking about getting some for next winter but wondered if it is worth it?

No - but I was looking at it today on eBay; seems to be around £15 per mat plus a huge P&P charge

My little darling digs a hole waiting for his grub so thinking either mats or gravel, although the latter will only slow down the mud, not the digging.

hav a look at the stuff thats plastic mesh and the grass grown through but is protected

My yard uses it and it is good (better than nothing), but they have also put hardcore in some of the gateways and this is even better.

I have been looking at it, but haven't been able to afford it so far. It's not terribly cheap though, at least for the decent stuff that will last.
