hi
anyone know what the ground is like at mattingley? i just spoke to them on phone and they said would be very surprised if sunday cancels but the weather forecast is rain sunday and i'm in glos with no water at home or on yard!!( tthough we do have water butts on yard) so will be a pain just sorting out getting there and is a long way to go to not be able to run x country especially as my time is around 3.45pm
what is everyone doing? don't want to withdraw but don't want bad first event of season so far!!!!

Cant help you on the ground but for anyone whos interested Im not that far from Mattingley and the weather has been sunny today with light drizzle late this afternoon (I could ride in a Tshirt and not get cold). Yesterday we had a lot of rain for a few hours then dry. Fingers crossed it stays dry tonight.

i used to keep my horse at Mattingley and the ground was awful in winter - we weren't even allowed to turnout if it rained! hoping it's not that bad for you!

Did day before dressage today at Mattingley and the ground couldnt be better considering the rain. The dressage arena we used (think it was arena C) was a little bit sticky in places but what you'd expect really.

The SJ and XC was perfect, great grass covering - really thick and springy. There were one or two slightly muddy places on the XC course in the shady areas and i think all the courses have had course changes due to the rain - certainly the PN has.

All in all i dont think we could ask for better ground conditions considering and as always the courses are beautifully presented and constructed. The training course looks lovely, the intro really inviting and the PN up to height and requires bold riding. Plenty of alternatives on all three courses

Lorry park looks fine too atm - only time will tell

dressage was a not great - got 36. something so middle of the field - not a disaster but nowhere near her best either - she was reminding me today that she is still a baby! went very wiggly on me

Still if she gives me a good feel SJ and XC i cant complain

I will certainly give you all an update on the ground when i get back - no problem

wont be until the evening though as as soon as we get back we have to go and pick my little laddy up from the vets - he's going to have been there 3 days instead of one when we've finally picked him up!!

Took us 2 and 1/2hours to get to Mattingley today - usually takes 1 hour 3/4
