Looks like they are SJing after XC in reverse order, looks like a good idea.

How does this ride? Any body done XC the SJing @ a BE event on the same day?

Cant stop looking at the page waiting to see if ive got in!

Will surely be putting it up today as it is times day today.

Mattingleys IN is an international run class. Everyone will be in top hat and tails, the prize money is very good for this event, hence why some of the big guns attend.

Ive not done xc before sjing before, as ive not ridden at that standard. Trainer did the class a few years ago, and went well only to pull a shoe xc and end up with a lame horse

so couldnt contest the sjing.

I know the sjing caused a lot of problems last year, as it was up to height and quite spooky.

The xc is run over the same novice xc course. Just gives an international feel.. Mattingley have very good sponsors, and have corporate days which is why the prizes are fabulous there.

I remember doing the OPN there last year and the SJing was quite small, spose it is different at Mattingley as apose to Little Mattingley.

I can imagine then that they make quite a big thing about the SJing in the IN. Would be nice to watch that!

Lets just hope the rain stops, it hasnt rained here yet today and the sun is trying to work its way through the clouds!!

The sjing was indeed small in the OPN as I did it last year too.

The sjing has to be influential as the xc is just Novice standard. Its a great competiton to get young horses doing international dressage tests etc.

Haven't done this at BE but Bee has done it often at Gosling cup for PC. It is always a challenge to get the ponies back round and listening for SJ shortly after going XC. Means you have to get changed twice too.

Yes I can imagine it would be difficult for fiesty horses/ponies.

I would never have been able to do that on Fitz! After going XC I would have had no hope holding him SJing!!!

Im sure T_E will have fun, good luck to her for Friday!!

See I think it's going to work in W's favour, especially for his first time round an sj course that big. I think the xc will get him really forward and open up his shoulders which should help him, as I can see his expression when he takes off and realises the spreads are a fair bit bigger! Of course I might be wrong. We used to do it at ODEs in Belgium, it's not really a problem, they are usually more settled, and they haven't usually had time to get tired. Don't think he'll be jumping that late - we're going to be last out of about 100 after the dressage.....

You could be lying in 1st place then you will have to SJ last!! Which maybe wouldnt be great for W to have to hang around but would be cool!! Im sure you will do great.

I want the times to go up so I can see whether I have got in!
