Quick report from Mattingley today -

Dressage - lovely, soft, accurate, obedient test, perhaps a little on forehand, but not enough to deserve mark of 41.4. Very cross - they were videoing today so I've bought it and when I go for dressage lesson next Monday I will get it analysed!!!

SJ - rolled one pole seem to have 4 faultitis lately. Annoying, but she jumped pretty well.

XC - FAB FAB FAB! Once again she was just fantastic. Only one sticky moment when I saw a shocker of a stride to the corner and we nearly nosedived, but she's far cleverer than me and sorted it out! Definitely ready to go novice now, very happy with her even though scoreboard didn't look great!

Anyone else go today?

Just to add to my report - I am very grateful to the dressage judges who give up their time...but it is very frustrating and disappointing when mark seems so harsh!!

Hard luck with the dressage mark.
Sounds like a smashing day bar that tho

Where to next for you guys?

The ground was perfect, one muddy bit into the woods, but otherwise it was fab. Really lucky to get run today - sorry to hear you missed out yesterday

Aston le walls next for us PN and then Burnham Beeches novice.

Where are you off to next then?

shame about the dressage, it's so annoying when you think you have done a good test but the judge doesn't agree!

Sounds like you had a fab day though, at least the fun bit went well!

Well done, how annoying about the dressage, so frustrating isnt it? I've been trying to work out why some judges hate Moon but havent come to any conclusions yet

I have the same trouble.. what i really can't work out, is i'm riding Ernie much better, and he's going much better as the season goes on (as you'd expect from a new partnership) but it's never reflected in the marks.. i was really pleased with our SLM test and got our worst Int. mark (bar one which was 100x worse, and only got a slightly worse mark)

Dressage maken NO sence to me at all!!!

Very well done for the rest of it tho!!!

I love mattingley, its my favorite event of the year.

We're doing PN at aston too next

then PN at Burnham... slightly following you guys around it seems lol

Well done - I have never sussed the dressage either although it can work both ways my chestnut has had some very good marks for some quite rubbish tests!

Well done that's fantastic!! shame about the dressage but XC sounded ace!!

Well done Mel, I was fence judging at the last today. The ground was fab and I feel so sorry for yesterdays lot as the ground will probably stand up to all 3 days! I left there at 6.40 and the exit from the event was dry as a bone and the wet patches on course we really drying out.

Ah would've loved to have gone, but didnt have any transport this weekend!
Good going, sounds like a confidence-giving run

Dressage is a funny thing isn't it!!!

The dressage judges were really harsh!
Recently I've been getting 7s and 8s in dressage tests, but this judge gave me 5s and 6s, I only got one 7

So annoying because I went clear in sj and xc!

I think I might offer to scribe for judge at my OH's next event, as I can never understand the marking and it might give me a bit of an insight. This time last year he was trotting round with her nose poking out, and he didn't deserve any better than the marks he was getting (low/mid 40's). He has really improved over the winter, and now has a really consistent outline, just loses her through her outside shoulder occasionally in canter circles, and is still getting exactly the same marks ie 5's and 6's. Bizarre!

I am glad to hear that it's not just me who is confused.

Well done for the rest of the day though!!

Well done, what a shame about the dressage.. I can empathise, we can't seem to get under 39 for superb tests this season but still manage 40 for awful tests - maddening!! Sounds like a fab day apart from that though; well done
