Long story short:

I need to get someone to jump my horse over a course of about 1m- 1.05m he is small boned and has not got lots of muscle I am worried about how much weight I'd put on him?

The only people I know who I'd let jump him are too big in my opinion. Whats the max weight you'd put on him to jump?

Even better if there is any proffesional/ experienced small riders out there who would like to jump him PM me!

Brownies for everyone as I know you've had a lot of these lately! :)

I'm just under 9 stone and jump a well put together young warmblood x pony (14.1hh) at those heights, have also jumped a stocky 13.2hh that high. At 14.3hh yours would take me easily, but if really lacking muscle and not fit enough, surely he'd struggle to jump a course anyway, regardless of rider weight?

No he doesn't struggle at all he's not lacking that much muscle but not as much as I would want on him . The muscle he is lacking is not on his engie either it is in his neck. He's definatly fit enough but we are just building up topline atm. I'm more worried about his frame as he hasn't got a lot of bone.

The person I had in mind is 5ft8 and probably about 12 stone I think this would be too heavy what do you think?

I'd say, about 10stmax for a regular rider.

I'm 5ft9ish, slim-ish build and about 11st and feel far too big for our jumping pony of similar build and height and only jump on on occasion to keep her quiet.

Thankyou :) I'll try and stay under 10 stone then, now all I have to do is find someone small and capable near by :p He's a bit of a monkey and will duck out if you don't ride firmly into some fences.

I think they would be too heavy. It is his cannon bone, tack and his own weight you want to consider rather than his height.

See this earlier thread for the calculation:

Thankyou, very helpfull I think from doing rough calculations I wouldn't want to go over 9 stone as I forgot about including tack :p

It all seems a bit too much hassle though I might just jumo him at this rate :)

LOl if youre anywhere nr Swindon I know of a couple who might be of help...but am thinking glos will be too far away :( Def put an ad up in countrywide and similar places or 'talant spot' at the equestrian centres lol....you'll find someone for him easily I'd say! :)

Going to a PC show on sat, there will probably be some people there and I will probably know most of them :)

Advert isn't a bad idea but kind of need it done urgently so can't wait for responses etc and its only a one off thing so I think someone would be upset thinking its like a regular thing competing my horse :p

I basically need someone to prove that he can do it!

I used to jump my old 14.1 1.20 tracks and I was very brave on him.

But Koko, the 14.3, is quite a bit faster then him and has a tendency to duck out and I have hurt my back quite bad landing on a jump. I know he will do it but I have no trust in him plus my back is bl**dy sore! :p

If I see him doing it I will just jump on and do it but I can't trust him atm, were fine over smaller but any bigger then like 1m I just keep thinking of my fall.

I think I will just suck it up and get on with it. CBA with all this finding someone to ride him stuff. I'm always telling the people I'm teaching to get on and do it and stop whining I feel very hipocritical :p

Once I've done it once aswell I won't worry again it will be easy, I might hire an arena and just build the jumps up to this height then hopefully I'll be fine, just got to remember to wear a body protector, I learnt this the hard way :p

why do you have to jump that big anyway??? it doesntr matter how big the jumps are surely?

I enjoy jumping that big but I have had my confidence knocked and have been working from jumping 2ft to 2ft9 and now I think I'm ready to start jumping the heights I used to jump. I know the jump size doesn't matter but I do enjoy jumping bigger as I feel it is such a challenge.

I just want to know I can jump sized courses in a competition as I jump the height in training but I am nervous competing as this is when I had my fall.
