Do thorowgood not make maxam saddles now?

Taking my pony up to try this saddle on her and I was trying to identify if it was a cob saddle but they don't seem to have them on their site at all now. If I think it fits I am buying it for the saddler to check on Friday by the way.

Anyone know if it's a cob one (do maxams come in cob anyway?)

Yes that's a cob saddle. You can tell from the balance and point girth straps, the straight cut front to leave room for big shoulders, the flatter tree shape and the square cantle.

AFAIK maxam only comes in pony and standard size now, with a changeable gullet narrow/medium/wide, lesser quality than the one in your pic (i presume they've done this to avoid putting the price up).

There's nothing wrong with an older one as long as its sound and fits your horse. I can see from the pic it takes the 'fish' adjusters.

I am pretty sure they are no longer made by TG - they are now a brand in their own right. I had a TG maxam and it was a great saddle - and yes, the girthing on the saddle is for roly poly cobs. :)
