Hello.i would love to see your photo's of Maxi Cobs.I have been told by two differant people that my boy would make an ideal Maxi but have always thought he was a middleweight hunter. So would love to see any photo's to compare.

She is 15.3hh so if I kept her hogged I would have to show her as a maxi.

Thanks.
I would say he is more a hunter. I tend to think of Maxi cobs being cobs that were too tall to be show cobs.
And you would have to hog him.

I would call storm a maxi cob (allthough for some reason he looks weeny in this photo think because the wall is so tall!)

Ooo. I am also interested I was having this convo with my mum the other day, we have decided to hog my mare and show her as a cob, we might get her in at 15.1, but if not she could be a maxi cob, like you I always thought she would be a middleweight hunter, but then I suppose that is what cobs are really (smaller mw hunters!)

Ideally maxi cobs should stand at around 15.2 so your ok height wise and should have a certain about of bone for showing in affiliated classes (can't remember of hand though sorry), a head of a duchess and a cooks backside so they say.

A well muscled and rounded bottom, short in back, a good strong neck, deep girth and a leg in each corner and have good straight correct movement.

Personally I would say your cob would do a lot better in cob classes than hunter classes from looking at your photos.

I'd work on developing your horses top line, forming some good muscle in the neck, get a bit of a crest too and put some more condition on her rear end (basically rounding those corners off) without actually been fat and unhealthy. Hog her mane, pull/shave her tail at the top, chop the tail to hock length and whip the feathers off (always make sure you do this about a month before you start the showing so it give the hair time to grow back a bit and so you can't see any pink skin etc) trim her hears to define her face, and under the jaw line.

Just my opinion though, either way I'm sure you'll have lots of fun...after all you've got a cob....cobs are fab!

Not a very good picture, also he's actually too small to be classed as a maxi but has all the right features, he has done well in all cob classes even against the maxi cobs of proper size.
