With winter light and daughter being at school her pony isn't getting much ridden work at the moment. At 5ft 6 and just over 8.5 stone would I be too heavy to lightly work him?
Whats your weight as a percentage of his? Ideally 15% or less. You are supposed to be able to get away with up to 20%, so I guess if its not hard work you'll be ok.
Our former section a was a real old fashioned, full up 11.2, leg at each corner type. She happily carried my friend who's just under ten stone, granted she's a nice light rider but the weight is still there. I'll probably get shot down for saying this but I honestly think you'll fine - try it and see! My other friend has a sec a who won't tolerate an adult on him, they're all different. Providing he isn't a finer type then I can't see a problem.
You will be fine. If it is helpful, the PC mounted games teams have weight guidelines and I think it was about 8 stone 4 for 12.2 and under-and that's for really hard fast work.
Id say that is fine. I had someone try ours who said they were near 9 stone...he took 2 steps and dumped her on her arse...I think there may have been a fib there. He had happily carried my mate who is just under 9 stone (5ft 6 and a size 6-8)
