In a couple of months my horse may be coming back from loan. She is great fun and has been competing bsja and be100 ( poss limit current rider brilliant) but does have the odd quirk (vets clipping, etc) so needs the right home.

Wouldn't really want to sell her but live in a very isolated part of the country.

Would it be very naughty to put her up as a sale horse and then try and persuade buyer to loan her??? Just don't know many people who have had much success finding a good loan home around here.

Alternatively how do I go about finding a really fab loan home - h&h, horse mart. Eek, marginally panicking as she is not the sort of girl to rot in a field!!!

Thanks

thanks!!!!

I think it would be very naughty to misrepresent a sale. I would be VERY upset if this happened to me.

I would advertise for loan as you say, horsemart, local equine business, word of mouth (the latter often getting a really good home as they find out about all the quirks etc).

Good luck :)

Slightly off topic but re finding best home, when I advertised mine for loan I had a great responce (5 people) I interviewed so to speak every caller with a list of questions - what would she be used for, where would she be kept etc and listed 1 to 5, 1 being the best suited home for her and told callers I'd decide who'd try her in a week after I'd taken all calls.. number 1 would be the first to try her, if they didn't want her number 2 and so on. Number 1 took her though lol and gave her a better home than I did . Might be worth trying something like this when deciding :)

Laura, you're right, point taken If it was the perfect home I would sell, but she is the sort of horse who would be so easy to sell to the wrong home, she is so so good most of the time, but would want to be absolutely sure they could cope with the bad bits. I don't care about money (just wouldn't want to put that in advert!!!) just getting a first rate home.

I suppose really it's a sort of loan with a view to sale or something that I need to be looking at?

Not a good idea - I would say that you have two completely different markets (prospective loaners or purchasers) and you would waste other people's time as well as your own. Didn't think anywhere in Suffolk was that remote, I'd have thought you'd have some luck finding a good loan home in your area.

I just used Adtrader.co.uk :) Am not far from Cardiff so quite central and had replies from people up to 40 miles away if I remember correctly.

Said pony is readvertised now to stay at present yard, just had calls wanting to move her lol so not going as well this time :p

Ad-trader defo works really well up here (North Yorkshire).

What about putting her on loan and sale adverts with Loan with view to buy or long term loan considered. That way you would get the best of both worlds?
