As follows:
17.3hh
rising 14 yrs
Black
Gelding
KWPN
Won/Placed AM, working PSG at home.

Does all the following:
changes( will do 1 time with right rider)
half pass
shoulder in
extended/collected trot and canter
canter pirouettes
ect ect

Snaffle or double bridle

Easy to do, clip, catch , show, lorry or trailer, at shows ect.
Not sharp but if ridden and expected to work hard will spook, its not sharp or scary but he will slow down and go to turn round in slow motion- if you smack him he goes, if you get him in front of leg he stops doing it! Its funny!

He is 100% bombproof with any rider to hack in company and I beginner could ride him but he is not easy to hack alone- he will but he spooks and its hard work. He will canter in the woods ect quietly.

He does not buck or rear.

His other issue is that he has had an injury in the past which means if its cold/damp he needs the occasional bute( I say needs- he might be ok on a supplement instead). He has never been picked up on in the arena with this.
He also has wedge pads on his front feet as his heels are low, he has been xrayed and all fine.

He is a big moving, impressive big horse.

He is a real schoolmaster.

Any ideas- he needs a new home.

Ok I'm going to have a crack at it........I'm more of a all rounder pricer but here goes......

.......£15000 - £18000??

It would be interesting to see what other people say!!

You don't seem to have much luck with your horses

As for price I'd say anything between 6K and 12K depending on how correct he is in his way of going and how noticeable his 'stiffness' is.

I would have said 15K and maybe more. But, the old injury and odd bute required is a concern, especially if he is to compete........

i am , i am

17.3 is a bit big for me though , & as it happens i have a second viewing booked on a horse (yipee) not quite as established at the higher levels as i really want but such a lovely genuine horse that pending my instructor giving me the pen to sign the cheque i think i'd be a fool to pass him by

as for price , i've been looking a while! the size would put me off a bit , ( i'd need new transport too! ) but if he is a real schoolmaster i could live with the old injury & low heels but would expect to see a reflection of them in the price

if he were much over £10k personally i would think it was a bit much , i have seen a horse a bit smaller & failed a flexion test on vetting when it was bought , but sound , for sale at £8k , nice horse but too stong for me & i felt a fair price , i have seen a 15 year old at £15k competing psg & in good health/no issues/problems, right down to a 17 year old horse as cheap as £2.5k that had an old injury & needed no-bute daily

so i think i'd go for anywhere between £6-£10k depending on what type of home you want him to go to , unless of course you have undersold his comp record then i'd say more

I would say just under the £10K mark, due to his age (I wouldnt consider him 'old' in the slightest, but I'm finding more and more these days that anything over the age of 12 is considered 'past it'

). He's obviously very experienced and a wonderful performer, but if he were to be sold as a schoolmaster then his quirkiness may have a slight impact on his price; also the slight health issue may bring it down a little. I would say about £8,500 to £9000.

This horse is actually on loan to me. I am having to nothaving him anymore as the time needed with the younger horses means he is wasted with me.
The owner would like to loan him or pref LWVTB to the right home. She has asked me to look for her.
He has a decent comp record up to AM but since the rule change is still in Novice points- handy!
Anyway- she is looking for a lot less that suggested here so if anyone knows of any nice person who might be intrested then PM me. Its very sad!

17.3hh is massive! I think that will be her limiting fator more than the other problems which wouldn't bother me in a schoolmaster. No idea on price as I really think the size will limit the market drastically. he does sound lovely though.

It sounds as if he wouldn't pass the vet which limits his insurable value to under £5k

Tbh because of the size / age/ quirkiness and unsoundness I would say about £3.5k

That's not to say he wouldn'e be a great horse for someone, but you would have to be prepared to pretty much write off the money.

Whats the nature of the injury out of interest? Asking based on the fact that the x rays are clear

Difficult one. I think he'd be worth considerably higher than many people here mention purely due the crazy dressage market atm. The sad thing is his height as horses of this level that are more around the 15.2hh to 16.1hh ish area are in enormous demand (and fetching lots of money), for the BYRDs riders.

How many points does he have do you know?
