The JW £12.50 ones.

When I hack my 5 year old on her own she spends most of the hack with her head high up in the air (for obvious reasons we have to look for danger you know!

), which is slightly annoying as all I can really do is hack at the moment, and although she comes through very well from behind and accepts the contact well now I would still like her to work in more of an outline. When hacking in company she does not come though behind, drags her feet but brings her head down into a lovley outline which I don't acually want because she is not tracking up so drives me insane! No probs when schooling so I would be purely trying them for when hacking alone.
Opinions please?

Lol, yes in an ideal world but it doesn't work shes very sharp so we literally are on the look out for the next scarey leaf that may require a big spin, however naturally roadworks etc are not a problem

They are really good but the only prob we found with them is that it can some times bring their head very in to their chest.

Also depends on your horse, ours used to spin and fling it's front legs out. Well they can get rapped up in the training aid so we clipped them to the buckels of the girth, just a thought.

Good luck with it

I'm not sure about these reins but I have used a market harbourgh for the same sort of reasons, I liked it because you can loosen it or take up more contact as needed as the reins slide through the bit rings.
Sorry if this doesn't help!

No thats very good advice, do not want her head bought into her chest. May give these a little more thought or see if I can borrow some to experiment with. Thanks

I've got a similar bungy type training aid and I would not use it to hack I'm afraid for similar reasons to Hermangerman.

Have you thought about good old fashioned draw reins?

Yes I think you are definatly right, I would end up getting my self and horse caught up, yes tried draw reins, I don't get on with them well.
