there are a couple of horse owning families in the village whoes horsemanship and management leaves a lot to be desired to put it mildly. RSPCA have been called to them in the winter they have trashed peoples paddocks, barked trees, wrecked fences and so on. They are related and it sees to be a rivalry thing going on,both families having more horses than they can cope with TBH but both refusing to sell any, presumably loss of face. After years of this they now find it difficult to get places to rent. they wont pay/cant afford livery even DIY and so go around the farmers getting cheap grazing and hay but they leave everything such a mess that the farmers wont have them now. So ,winter is coming along and they are pestering me for my paddock. Now i dont do liveries and I look after my land. They see its green and growing and are pestering. they have been told, each autumn for years that the answer is NO. but you get the sob story "I cant afford............etc". I have helped them out with sourcing some old cheap hay for them a couple of years ago as I felt sorry for the horses and now every autumn and winter its pester pester. I do have hay for sale and they wont pay the price but hang around thinking I will reduce the price which I most defanitely will not. Sorry to moan but my good turn a couple of years ago has turned out to be a wrong thing to have done. Why cant people live within their means, have just 1 or 2 horses and do them well? Lots of us in the village are fed up with them . Phew, feel a little better for off loading, its hjust that they make me feel so mean by not having them on /selling them hay at below cost and I always find myself explaining why I cant to them instead of just saying No and walking away and I go away feeling I am bad.
