CC on my jumping please :) Baring in mind I have only really just started jumping and on a friends horse whilst Tessie is on pregnancy leave ! :)

Personally i think i need to stick my bum backwards more, bend in the middle more instead of rising upwards !

try popping your stirrups up and doing lots of two-point, make sure you're pushing your heels down until you get used to it (worked for me :p).
I agree about pushing your hips back and folding from your middle. :)

I always try to think of a seesaw when I jump- to keep it balanced, whatever needs to go in front of the pommel needs to be equalled with what goes behind. This means instead of going forwards with my body I try and slide my hips back and push my hands down towards the horse's mouth.

Your lower leg needs to be further forwards, and the above method helps me not do what you're doing which is letting it slip back and then having to pivot on your heels and grip with your knees (making it even harder to keep secure).

Thank you ! Will work on this, I need to counter balance myself lol

Thank you for these tips :) Yes defo need to stick my bum back more and bend, mum does shout this at me but its so many things you have to remember, these are stills from a video and they really show you what needs working on :)

If your horse is trustworthy, it could be worth trying to canter around in a secure 2-point, and over very small (like in that freeze frame would be ideal) fences just allow your hands to follow her mouth but not to move your body. It gives the idea of where you need to be, and lets you really develop your balance.

I'll try and dig out some videos I have showing this in practice...

basically all of the above and just in general i would shorten your stirrups considerably it will help a lot.

nice to see that you are not jabbing horse in the mouth which i see a lot ahen watching people beginning to jump and suprisingly even reasonably experienced riders....so thumbs up :)

Thank you ! she is trustworthy has her moments but dont we all :D Thank you so very much will have to store this all away for when we nice jump.

Thank you, will pop them up some holes next lesson, I do try not to, she is the type of horse that if you did jab her in the mouth she would have a bit of a break down lol

A friends advice to someone with the same sort of position as you was to put a pole (or bricks or similar) near a fence or stable door and stand on it in a jumping position so you know when you are in balance and it gives you an idea of how far forwards you can put your upper body at various amounts of bend in your leg joints :)

Maybe put your stirrups up a couple of holes? :) to make your lower leg more secure. Well done anyway :) I know someone who has a lovely show jumper for sale only £15,000 ;) she offered him to me I said ' nah he's going to cheap there's got to be something wrong with him' ;)

Someone on here told me to imagine I'm sitting in chair and need to reach forward to get a drink (in my case vodka ;)) without leaving the chair.
Worked for me, I even said vodka out loud the next few times I jumped :D

I have the exact same jumping position as you (nearly had :) ) and asked for advice here too.
A lot of 2 point and what I did a lot when hacking out even in walk is just go into my jumping position at random just to get used to the feel of it and also did a lot of jumping straight out of 2 point.
Also racing length short stirrups or no stirrups at all! my horse was a saint to put up with me to be fair!

My lower leg is a lot more secure now, certianly not all the time but its getting there however toes still sticking out :(

Not bad huni I'd say you are little too far forward for jump that size, yes more bend and bottom back rather than shoulders forward concentrate on heels down and forward which will anchor you better. Not looking bad though hun.
