Why do people take off the nose band then put a headcollar under the bridle? I understand why they would have a headcollar under the bridle in Endurance but more aimed at in the riding school.

Where I used to help out at a RDA centre they would do it there with certain horses but I never knew why. Sorry if it comes across as a silly/stupid question. :o

If it's a riding school I would imagine it's so the can be tied up between lessons or maybe to attach a lead rope to for beginners lessons.

My friend leaves a halter on her horse under the bridle when she hacks. She says its so shes got it incase theres a problems and she has to lead horse back. Thing I pointed out to her though is that she doesnt take a lead rope!

Id guess in a riding school its for ease of tying up or leading as said previously. x

When I helped at an RDA we left headcollars on to attatch leadropes to and we would take the reins off the bit and onto the sides of the headcollar for the riders who where capable of steering :)
