Self indulgent post. Well a few weeks ago my mare went to a SJ show and got elimintated through napping. I was really disappointed and thought maybe I had overfaced her and lost all her confidence.
Anyway I took her to BSJA area trainer and the first time she wanted to see her loose jump to see how she reacts without a rider and if the napping was a pain response. Well she jumped superbly, very careful lovely canter etc. We then had a lesson last week and again she was superb. Well Sat I was told my horse is very scopey and talented, can jump from any srtide has a lovely canter, technique and is clever, she felt if she put a fence up top pf wings and any width she'd easily clear it. We have to get her thinking and tuned n for the unexpected.
So we put in a course on 10 fences in a 20 x 40 school with lots of dog legs. Jumping off corner with 2 strides to fence. Off long side of school with stride to fence etc. We had 2 stops in total and she really did jump, was great. Apparently some of my approaches were not too great but my horse is obviously building up confidence as got us out of trouble.
She is bred to jump as both sides of her family have been intetnational showjumpers. Her sire is Pouchka III
