I have decided to get Oliver's back looked at again and this time I want to use a back specialist rather than my vet. I have had a McTimoney practitioner recommended to me but I would like to hear from anyone who has used McTimoney with success or otherwise.

Yes I had all mine done. Lady down the road from me does it so it was easier. Had her check acouple out before they went for backing, and also a mare checked out that did have problems before untill i got the back person into sort it. I'd give it a go as they are very good and have thourough training..

I would actualy check that the person is registered.
I had one person in this area doing backs, he came up and saw my lot as he was reccommended by several people. A few years later he was incourt for saying he had the qualifications when he didnt. As he didnt have the qualifications he couldnt be insured so if anything had gone wrong we would have had problems.

Now i always take the time to check with the appropriate authority from which the person has gotten their qualifiction from, if they dont like me checking then i dont let them anywhere near my horses as any deacent proffessional has nothing to hide and therefore shouldnt mind you checking.

Thanks Jubbily and conniegirl. I will check if this chap is registered. He comes highly recommended by a lady who is meticulous about her horses' care so I think that he will be, but I will definitely check before I agree to any treatment or diagnostic work.

I have had a McTimoney practitioner out to see one of my horses. Make sure this person is registered and they should definitely ask you to ask/inform your vet that they will be seeing your horse. TBH, I much prefer the physio that my vet recommended. I found her approach to be much better - but each to their own.
