Just went to have my back/body looked at because my back still hasn't recovered from a seriously bonecrunching fall at the end of October and I've been getting very bad back ache not to mention feeling quite wonky esp. when riding. I came to the conclusion that there wasn't any point in getting the horse done if I wasn't going to get done myself too. I should think the majority of riders are slightly wonky and that in turn makes the horse slightly wonky and unless both are seen, you will end up going round in circles with lots of compensation on both sides.

Turns out my right leg was way shorter than my left (hence feeling wonky!!), back, neck and pelvis all had issues too.

I have to say that it was definately a pleasant experience and I can see why my horse likes being done!!

Who else gets seen by someone like a McTimoney person? Do you feel better for it?

I see a McTimoney, and it really really helped me. I had a very sore back - couldn't lie down/stand straight/walk properly (I could shuffle). If I sat down, it would take me half an hour to get back up. I was only 21. My GP said I would be in a wheelchair by the time I was 25 (!!!) and they would refer me for physio but it was an 18 month waiting list.

Needless to say, I dug deep and went privately to a McTimoney who was recommended by a friend. I didn't feel any better at the time, and was really depressed, but 5 hours later, I went to get up from my chair and realised I could move again. You have no idea how happy I was!

So here I am at nearly 30, with no real problems (ok, my back gets a bit sore and stiff, but I can do most things), and I pop along to the chiropractor when I need to - usually once a year, sometimes longer. So much for my GP's assessment!!

I went to an osteopath before Xmas because I get quite bad RSI from typing and driving. It really helped and I'm much less wonky. Wouldn't say it was a nice experience though; it was quite painful and very uncomfortable. However, none of my problems have come back so it was worth it. I also have various stretches that I am supposed to do every day which also help.

I see a Chiro every 6 months or so, as I get really bad headaches and end up taking pain killers like sweets, and she sorts me out and im fine then for ages, We think the reason I get it is due to me trying to be personable in my job and I tilt me head when Im talking lol!

I go to a McTimoney Chiro, at present, every 3 months. She came recommended for the horses first off & she worked wonders with them. When I had a bad car accident in 2003 I was left with whiplash & wonky pelvis. So I rang her on the instant. She has helped me more than I could imagine. She got me through a tricky pregnancy & saw me on emergency a couple of times when I could not stand for the pain. She even offered to come in to delivery with me to help – how special was that!
When I had another car accident in 2008 she sorted me out from that.
So I go as a matter of course every 3 months for a check over. Little needs doing but I am so much more in tune with my body I can feel the slightest mis-alignment now & feel so much better when I have been “done” mentally as well as physically.
We are moving soon & I dread finding another as she has been so good, but is will be too far to travel to her.

Yes - I used to get a very painful back after a stupid accident (falling off a very tall ex-boyfriend's shoulders onto my coccyx outside Tesco - bloody stupid and incredibly painful - oh the heady days of youth...) This gave me quite severe pain further up my back from a kind of shock-compression injury. The McTimoney sorted me out a treat - and also sorted out my friend's dad who did his back by working on car bodies for years on end. He absolutely swore by her, and he's absolutely not a non-orthodox medicine fan ...

Having said that, she wasn't so good on the horses, but this could just have been this one / a one off.
