McTimoney - what do you think?

i had a car accident two years ago and for the sake of the insurance company had to go through the whole getting treated for whip lash thing. a couple of my aquaintances are qualified practitioners so i thought why not but frankly it made no difference to me at all. i was told one of my legs slightly shorter than the other and there fore my hips offset but the massive scar up the right leg might have been bit of a givaway.....

I have used it for my dog who had symptoms of wobblers with excellent results. It has been used successfully for treating dogs with symptoms of wobblers in the states and is beginning to catch on here. Havent used it for a horse....Yet! I am considering it for my horse who has neck issues. I certainly would consider it before surgery but would also consider physiotherapy too. My McTimoney Chiro did admit that she doesnt have success with horses with kissing spines.

i think they vary, but i have a mctimoney chiro who is brilliant, has totally sorted out my crookedness and chronic back pain, taught me a self-help exercise that gets rid of my occasional bouts of sciatica instantly (and other people's too, sometimes, depending on the cause of it). i totally trust her and she does a great job on the horses. she's shown me how to tell if their back is working correctly or not - if not, i give her a call. she is gentle with them, none of that terrible swinging-hindleg-out-at-90-degrees lark, but very very effective. wouldn't be without her now.

ive used it on both myself and my horses.
Made quite a big difference to my neck after a very nasty fall from a horse and a car accident in quick succession. It did take a few sessions to sort my neck out but it has (my neck was so missaligned that i was haveing serious migranes and constant neck pain that radiated all the way down my back and up through my shoulder to the point it was painful to use my left arm).

it worked ok on my arab, i think though that his injuries are beyond help (he came out through the jockey door of an ifor williams summersaulted on to the road destroying his back, and then he summersaulted over a fence in the field about 8 months later). It has helped as it has eased his problems, but it hasnt been a complete cure.

Anouther horse that i got from a market had something trapped in his back to the point that he couldnt put his head to the floor to graze. one session with the mctimoney guy and he was grazing happily.

I have a brilliant one for Finnus, she's done a great job

I've used an excellent one on Mr D with brilliant instant results. Used her tiwce and haven't had to use her again but woudn't hesitate to have her back.

I think it depends on the problem. Mine was always honest if she felt she could help. Last time my dog had a problem she quickly identified that there was nothing she could do as it was soft tissue damage. She suggested swimming him (see sig pic!) and it sorted him out again.

I have sciatica from time to time so think that I need to see her myself!!! Thanx kerilli!

I shall be rebooking this week. She cured my tb from bucking last time she came out.As he has been off work with a injury I thought it only fair to get him checked out again. She picked up on a lot of things and it helped him in his work. There are 6 horses on our yard that use this practice on a regular basis.

I'm sure there are good ones and not so good ones. The one I used for my horse spent 5 mins on him and charged me £55 and told me he was arthritic (yes I knew that already). Have the equine physio now who is soooooo much better. If you are thinking of using one, ask around and go on personal recommendation.

I use a McTimoney practitioner for my horse and it makes a huge difference. I can tell straight away when he's not right and she 'mends' him every time.

I also see one for my own back - I was at the point a few months ago where I couldn't walk - I went to hospital, they told me there was nothing they could do - I've been referred by my doctor to a University Hospital for them to investigate it. At the time I was on sedatives, co-codamol, muscle relaxants and anti-inflammatories and it was still too painful for me to walk unaided.

I had ONE session with a McTimoney practitioner - hobbled in and almost floated out....turns out one of my vetebrae had come out of alignment. Still not perfect now, but it's so much better!

ETS - It does depend on what's wrong with your horse though - if it's not skeletal, a McT. won't pick it up. That's why I have two back people - a massage therapist for muscles and a McT. for skeleton
