Me and Bodey went solo for the first time today!

Me and Bodes went out for our first solo hack today. Went out last week with Mum on the push bike but today was the first time on our own. He was quite forward going on the way out and into the woods, not silly though. Had a couple of looks at things, no spooking though and nothing a treat couldn’t make him forget, and on the way home he was a dobbin. Was only out for about half an hour but that was enough for our first time. I was really pleased with him!

For those who don’t know I backed Bodey 4 months ago and he is 4.

So a bit of a self indulgent post.

So do you guys think I’m alright taking him out on his own, not pushing him to fast am I?

Bless him! And no not pushing him too much AT ALL! G was longreining out at 3/4 on his own, and had his first solo hack at 4 too

Well done you and him!! Not pushing him at all! My friends mare went on her first solo hack at about 3 and 3/4, shes almost 4 now and doing great!

I have to say I think I have found myself a good one, but then of course I biased. All I wanted was a horse I could have fun on and already I’m having so much fun!

Of to our first XC open day on Sunday, not that I’m going to do any jumping (well maybe a little log), just going along for the hack. All in preparation for our goal of doing a sponsored ride in September!
