I am so proud of my boy!! We went on our first proper hack yesterday!! We headed over to the local bridle paths with my friend and her horse.
I was pretty nervous, as I haven't done much hacking due to the dark nights and wet weather! He was so good, had a look at a wheelie bin, but no real drama. Went past swans, whilst my friend's mare wet herself when she saw them!! We approached some horses in fields, and Toby grew about 3 hands, and was snorting, because their field was in a dip, so all he could see was there heads popping up, and he obviously couldn't work that out, but was fine once we went past. Got to a local farm, and had a splosh about in a massive puddle, he walked in, stood still and walked out happily.
Met another horse and rider, and he was fine, saw a horse being lunged in a ménage across a field, who was having a mental moment, that spooked Toby a bit, every time it snorted, but he walked past, if a little speedy!!
A great day, and such a giggle!! It was nice chatting to my friend (who also use to teach me) and she was so encouraging, and giving me lots of tips, as she has already ridden him, so knows how he needs a little bit of help and support.
I am totally buzzing, as had a fabulous lesson the day before too.
