Realised i havent remained active on here due to my computer breaking so limited access but i had my sister in law come with me today to film me on a lesson so i can see where i might be going wrong. Forgot to grab my camera so had to use iphone so quality is quite rubbish haha!

i'm determined to carry on and improve though!

Nice horse you're riding there. It is a good idea to video your riding as it can be hard to coordinate everything when you're concentrating on a particular issue.

He is, really nice.

I wasn't meant to be riding him but last minute change from the other coloured in this video.

Still waiting on the other videos, will upload as soon as i get them.

Well done and very brave to post a video. Do you prefer your group or private lessons?

I am about to start lessons on my young horse this Sunday (after riding since I was a toddler) and absolutely terrified of the hard work I will be made to do! Will not be getting any videos from me ;)!!

Well done Mark. How many lessons have you had so far? I've only ever had one group lesson and it was total chaos so hats off to you. And that's a nice horse you're on. :)

Well done. Very well handled in a busy school, not sure I could cope with that myself, too much chaos! Keep it up.

You don't look "rubbish", just novice (which is not the same thing). How long have you been riding? You have a good basic position on the horse; just need to keep working on an independent seat and correct, elastic contact - just like all the rest of us!

I don't think the OP meant he was rubbish, Cortez, I think he meant the video quality! But I agree, much to like as well as plenty to work on :)

Was only in half of it, I panic a bit when theres 4 of us in half the arena and the group Im in now (been with them for about 3/4 lessons) are a little better than me. Also trying to keep out of their way when maybe I should do do what I'm doing forget they are there but be mindful of others around.

Yeah, it can get quite difficult when there's lots going on around you and you've got to remember to do this and don't do that and keep your heels down and look up and don't run into anyone all at the same time! It's good practice to multitask, but maybe it would be worth asking your instructor or the others if they'd mind doing a bit more active collision management, at least until you get used to riding with a few others :)

Exactly as it sounds then, over thinking again haha! We are told to keep a horses length apart. If your too close cut across the arena or do a circle.

Looking good!

I've been riding for years and I STILL have to remind myself to look up and not down. Even over jumps I have a habit of looking down- habit of a lifetime!

You are doing really well. Took me ages to stop looking down too :o I can still hear the RI shouts of if you look at the ground that's where you'll end up! :D

Does anyome think my stirrups are too short? They are about this length every week. Just wondering if they look a little short?

You want to practice trotting without stirrups for a while then put them back. If they feel too short they usually are. Also think about taking your thigh away from the saddle it will help keep your heels down... Theoretically. You are looking good!
