So I purchased a new horse she's overweight and currently at rest as she has back pain and needs some tlc, before bringing back to work.
However I've tried her on soaked hay she will not eat and just refuses.
I've currently got her on Timothy hay and a high fibre hard feed.
Suggestions on Timothy hay or meadow hay to feed an overweight pony?

Shes being fed Timothy hay at 1.5% of her body weight

If i could find timothy near me, I'd choose it over and above any other hay for my fatties

Thank you. I've just looked up my suppliers analytic overview and timothy hay has 5.2% esc sugars and protein where as meadows has 8.5%. Timothy seem to have a higher fibre content than meadow hay and timothy doesn't need to be soaked, hooray!

Yes, Timothy for fatties.... I've fed it over winter to two good doer cobs, literally as much as they could eat and they came out of winter looking having lost all excess and a perfect weight.... Did poop a lot though!
