I read on an old post that you measure from wither to dock, but do you let the tape measure follow the curves or the horses back or pull it tight? I'm sure there would be a few inches difference.

Anyone??? Please...
I've measured my mare at 4' (tape measure following contours of her back), but I heard that the rule of thumb is rug size less 2' - which would make her 3'9"

I have always let the tape measure follow the contours :)

My mare is a 6ft3 in a rug and takes a 4ft3 exercise sheet if want it only to the point of her tail and not very deep, or a 4ft6 if I want it a bit bigger :)
