this has happened once before to my dog but i didnt fully realise it was the meat causing it til now. My dog has had a few little accidents in the past few days - coinciding with the fact i bought him a pack of ham as a treat from the supermarket and have been feeding him that alongside his usual dog biscuits etc.

He has wet himself a little bit, and i have put him out straight away and he has had really long wee's - despite only going an hour or so before (he normally holds very well, especially for a small dog)

Is it due to the high water content in sliced ham?

He eats cooked chicken, duck, beef, veg, pasta and rice etc scraps alongside his dog food and never had this problem from these foods and other meats - ever. Only with cooked ham and pork shoulder slices.
Im obviously not going to feed these to him again i just wondered if this had happened to anyone else?

I'm always wary about feeding any type of pork to my dogs. They get a lot of raw food, but I always cook pork if I am giving it to them. I don't give them ham, so don't know whether this is a problem for them.

I guess there may be something in processed ham that upsets him; probably best not feeding him it again.

Pork is fine for dogs.

Ham on the other hand is not! It is cured, has a high salt content and contains addatives and preservatives, kind words for chemicals. Avoid feeding him anything like ham or bacon.
