So, I popped over to Hartpury again today to see Miss_C and watch some of the dressage. Now I have always been a fan of GFS saddles...especially the dressage saddles. They just fit my leg length and I always find I can sit well in them, so when we passed the PDS stand and the mechanical horse, it was far too tempting to pass by.

Dan took the dogs, Miss_C took my glasses as you have to wear hats to ride mechanical horses and on I popped. Dropped the stirrups a couple of holes and felt like I was sat on a little piece of leather heaven. The chap turned the horse on, I took the reins and had a nice little walk and trot. I threw in a lovely walk to canter transition, so Miss_C took the opportunity to ask me for a canter to walk transition and I duly obliged...as did Robohorse. Very responsive to all aids. Walk to canter again...just enjoying myself really as the saddle felt absolutely amazing. Transition down from canter to trot was a bit tense thanks to me being totally unprepared and only having on a cheap Asda bra, so trot meant bounce in the wrong places, lol. I think the poor chap standing by me found it somewhere between oddly amusing and incredibly awkward, but Dan seemed to have a big smile on his face.

I have realised I really do need to shift the weight I gained. I have lost 1.5st now, so must keep going and get rid of that belly and chin...OMG the chin!!!!!!

So, for those of you who fancy a giggle at the person who has hardly sat on a horse in the last two years, here's a wonky youtube video.

Oh....and feel free to take the mic out of me....I could not help but repeatedly tell Robohorse that he was a good boy, thank him for good transitions and pat him! :)

that is adorable! Gosh you ride long! I am exactly the same when i ride the mechanical horse, chattering away to 'him' the whole time. Well done :)

PS boobs and chin look perfectly ok to me!! :)

That's my length of stirrup when I am on a horse that I know and trust not to be stupid. I will go up if I am on a strange horse or expecting trouble of any sort. I wasn't expecting Robohorse to do anything silly although I can imagine non riders finding him a bit tricky. He was very very responsive to the leg aids. You can hardly see my leg put any aids on, yet he would quite happily to walk to canter. Can you tell how much I enjoyed myself? lol

In all seriousness...I wanted the video to assess my position and balance after 2 years of being basically out of the saddle, so I am at least pleased I haven't fallen to pieces. Plenty I can see to work on, but at least I don't think there's anything major enough to bother George when I get on him.

I would urge anyone to have a go if you get the chance :)

Almost forgot...I said to Dan on the way home that I would actually like to get out and compete when George can. I have always been a trainer and never liked competing, but said I actually want to now and his response was, "well, we'll get him right and get a trailer for you and I can take you so you can concentrate on George and I can help with whatever you need and so you don't have to do it on your own"!

Seriously, this man could not care less about horses a few years ago....he chose to come with me today and when he said that, I pulled over near Hartpury church and planted a smacker on his lips....I'm a lucky girl!!! :)

That's lovely. Our RDA group have got a mechanical horse and are just waiting for a cabin to put it in, base laid just the actual cabin to be erected any day now. I can't wait for a sneeky go myself although someone said this one only walks and canters it's still got to be good for helping some riders.

Oh, it would be massively helpful to most riders I think. How wonderful that and RDA group can have one :)
