I would personally use medium, pressuming he has white legs???
If your clip too close they can get sun burn on the pink skin in the heels, also if they live out the heavy dew we are having in the mornings at moment can cause cracked heels beleive it or not. Medium will leve a bit more hair for protection. Good luck
