We sadly lost one one of our yard cats this week. The remaining cat is obviously missing him so yesterday this little fluff ball join us. He is very talkative and purrs as soon as he sees anyone. Hopefully, he will grow into an epic yard cat just like his predecessor. My husband named him after the coach of the rugby team we support.

The girls on the yard persuaded me that Franco required a friend to play with as the other cat thinks he's not worthy of her attention so this chap arrived today! His name is still to be decided, the girls like human names so I may let them choose. Don't worry they aren't in the crate all the time, just overnight so they can't get into trouble.

A little update update on Franco and his new pal who the yard staff named Freddie. The morning after Freddie arrived it became clear he really wasn't very well and had awful diarrhoea so off to the vets we went. At this point I was warned not to get too attached to him as his condition was not good at all. He was given electrolytes, wormer and a course of antibiotics and I was asked to bring him back the following day, obviously we seperated the pair of them and just hoped for the best. On our return to the vets the next day he had put on 200g which was a fifth of his bodyweight! The next couple of weeks were a real roller coaster, he continued to put on weight and his energy levels increased but the diarrhoea continued despite of more antibiotics and pre and probiotics. The next course of action was trying some steroids and I also put him on gastrointestinal kitten food at great expense. The good news is we are now two weeks clear of diarrhoea and he and Franco are back together. Hopefully, this improvement will be sustained, I suspect he may always have a sensitive stomach but seeing the two of them playing together is wonderful!
