After the abrupt end of my loan (not to do with my care), I decided to look for another equine friend to 'own'. I was specifically looking for something that would enjoy being pampered, groomed loads, odd bit of local showing, not bothered too much about riding but didn't really want a massive, ongoing health problem.
I looked at a few, but nothing was really 'right'. Then, my friend, out of the blue, decided that he WBx mare was too much for her now and her young sharer was going to take her on full time. However, she doesn't want to be out of the horsey loop and wants to plod out a couple of times a week. Perfect opportunity for us to share, I do the care, she does the riding!
On a fairly local website, I spotted Markie and knew he was the one;

On Monday, he came home to live with us!
He's 19 years old, built like a tank and, imho, a total stunner! He's been beautifully cared for, his previous owner had him for 13 years but is unable to ride now. She felt he wasn't ready to retire and wanted to find the 'right' home for him. Really feel for her, but it was a brave decision and, definately for me, the right one.
He's settling in well, must be hard after living in one place for so long, and I'm really looking forward to several years of his company.

He,s gorgeous... And 19! Gonna be giving NAS some stern words later that he's got years left in him, hehe.

And nice White legs... Is it wrong to be jealous of clean looking horses...

OMG he is absolutely stunning!! What a lovely owner to put his needs before hers, bet she misses him terribly tho!

I hope you have many years of fun and happiness with him.

Gorgeous!

I see he is in a (leather?) head collar for these pictures. If he must go out in one try getting a field-safe one that has rubber rings or velcro 'break-points'. I know leather will break but not /that/ easily. The damage they can do to themselves if panicking when stuck scares me...

Your new arrangement sounds lovely, and Marcus certainly doesn't look ready to retire. How good for all of you!

:eek::eek: OMGosh! he is gorgeous! you NEED to take him showing!
i dont show myself but he is such a stunner!

im soooooo jealous:D

id love to have a big 'tank' (as you explained him) type. he looks like hes got character too :p

Thanks for your lovely comments, he's quite spectacular. Whilst he's a good, solid chunk of a horse, he's only 15 hands! I'm going to have a go at veteran showing, as my back won't stand up to laps and laps of cantering, and, maybe, inhand coloured as he's nicely marked.
He's in a fieldsafe headcollar now, not becase he's difficult to catch but one of his fieldmates can be a little difficult (been mistreated in the past) and we need to be as unobtrusive as possible until everything settles.
I'm thrilled to bits with him!

He's 'ansome , hope you both have a long , happy time together , well done you for not dwelling the past but moving onwards and upwards , all the best..
