rubber matting en route, now working out what bedding to use with it, megazorb looks good, is £6.20 a bag decent price?

looking for something that will be also make a good comfy bed in one 'ingredient' ie not anything with straw on top, but just the one type

if i use plenty of it, does it make a nice bed to kip on

Does megazorb come as pellets? What about the other wood pellets? They are seriously easy to muck out, and I only use 1/2 to 1 bag a week in replacement so I think economical too.

Everyone on my yard uses Megazorb on mats! Tried loads of different beds and it is by far the most absorbant, cleanest, least dusty etc etc. On my mucky horse I used 1 bag a week.

Not sure on price comparison, but you could try woodypet or liverpool wood pellets to compare prices

Yes, £6.20 is what I pay from my local wholesalers. I use it on my box walker and it's fab stuff, it's easy to muck out, smells lovely, makes an unshiftable but soft bed, is the most absorbant bedding I've used and isn't dusty.

Not a bad price.

For me this is the only stuff that can cope with Miss Piddly Farra Clydesdale. I use 3 1/2 bags to give a 3" deep bed over the back half of the stable and then about a bag every 5 days when she is in a lot. I take out poo every day and the wet areas every 5 days - she has to be done more than most as she is so dirty.

With Chancer, I only do the wet every two weeks as he pees in one spot and is very clean and ideally the bed should be left as long as possible to form a settled base. I just sprinkle a little more on top of the wet areas between dig outs.

Saves me so much mucking out time compared to the same thin bed of shavings and the megazorb really soaks up the pee.

I used megazorb last year for very wet gelding and it is very absorbant .I preferred softer bed so added shavings on the top ,this was all on concrete floor.I have rubber matting now and prefer to use hemcore which is made of same material but is more like shavings and smells much better(lemon grass).During summer when they come in for about 6 hours a day I use shavings as its cheaper.
Megazorb is good for absorbancy but not the softest of bedding. That sounds expensive I paid about £5.20last year.Hemcore is £9.99 but 3 bags will give you decent bed .

I use it under straw in the winter - have a very wet horse, but who kicks poo around until it's dust if just on shavings. I find that I can put a couple of bags down and leave it for about 2 weeks, just picking poo out and wet straw every day. Even though the megazorb is wet, when it's lifted the floor is practically dry.

In the summer, when the stable is only being used for a few hours a day, I have it under shavings and it's great. If I could only persuade Ludo to poo in one place and not play football with it, I'd stick to shavings/megazorb permanently.

I find megazorb a lot softer than hemcore which is quite couse.

Last year I used hemcore however after trying megazorb when the hemcore ran out I am a convert, it is like cotton wool in consistancy and extremely dry with no dust.

£6.20 is a good price over here we have to pay £6.40. although a still lot cheaper than hemcore although the hemcore bales are bigger.

love love love megazorb, but for me wasnt cost effective cos the size of the bags is so small and i was getting thru 3 a week as a small bed on rubber matting. maybe if id of deep littered it would have been better but i personally dont like deep litter. It is mega absorbant, far more so than anything ive ever tried and therefore you dont get any amonia smell as u do from straw and shavings, really really good bedding if u can find a better way to manage it than i did
