Has anyone ever experienced this and what was the outcome?
A client of mine bought a lovely pony in January that flew through a 5 stage vetting. Recently we noticed a lump appear on the side of her face. Didn't think anything of it but pointed it out to the vet when she came out for something else. She said she'd biopsy it. When she came back to do that a week or so later it became apparent that lots of other little ones were appearing on her nose. The results came back as a melanoma but was a low activity rate. Her vet discussed it with a specialist at the nearest Equine Hospital and he is very concerned about it because of her colouring, the fact she is young and the rate they are appearing. The vet gave the results in person as she was at the yard and while she was there we suddenly noticed about a dozen more, but this time spread allover her body in different places!!
She is going in to the vets for more of the lumps to be biopsied to look at their activity level as they clearly are spreading and they are also going to scope her, as most of them are on her face, to see if there are any internally.
It's a painful topic of me as I lost my GREY at 17 to melanomas which blocked him up and on post mortem his digestive system was riddled with them. But the fact this mare is not grey is seemingly very rare, so apparently could be more serious
